Barça to Host Historic Game at Renovated Camp Nou this Saturday
Barça revealed their first game will take place at the partially upgraded Camp Nou on Saturday. The club will host the Basque side in La Liga 30 months since relocating to allow renovations to start.
“Returning home was our dream. Finally, it’s happening. We are back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
The stadium will not be at full capacity though over 45,000 attendees will be allowed to watch under the licence granted. When completed, it will accommodate over 104,000 attendees, up from the previous 99,000. Officials confirmed recent additions comprise a new players’ tunnel along with upgraded changing facilities.
Preparatory Events
Barça organized an open training session inside the stadium earlier this month. Officials stated they were hoping for permission from European football’s governing body for their upcoming Champions League fixture against Eintracht Frankfurt next month in the renovated venue. Previous fixtures took place in the temporary ground.
