Former Physician Accused of Sexual Assault Allegations Against Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Legal authorities have announced that a former doctor stands accused of performing sexual assaults against 38 individuals who were patients.
The Grave Charges
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous sexual offences – comprising acts against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021.
One senior prosecutor commented, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a detailed and complex investigation, meticulously examining the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Investigation
These allegations come after what police described as a “complex investigation” into reported assaults at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
Breakdown of Charges
Prosecutors outline the forty-five sexual offences include:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
