Reigning Aryna Sabalenka Wins Back-to-Back WTA Player of the Year Honors.
The top-ranked player Aryna Sabalenka has been selected the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second consecutive year.
The twenty-seven-year-old secured four titles – the most on tour – including retaining the US Open in September against Amanda Anisimova to secure her fourth career Grand Slam singles title.
A Year of Dominance
Throughout the year, Sabalenka played in a circuit-leading nine finals, with defeats coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in the French Open final.
The star player also won the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open as the clay season progressed. She remained the whole season as the world number one, concluding 2025 on top of the rankings for a second successive year.
This past summer, she became the first athlete to top 12,000 WTA ranking points since Serena Williams in 2015.
Historic Statistics
Sabalenka ended the competitive year with a sixty-three to twelve win-loss record, and earned a record £11m in tournament winnings.
She garnered nearly 80% of the votes cast by international tennis media.
Later this month, she is scheduled to face 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match with the aim of "help bring women's tennis to a greater prominence".
