Spurs Manager Frank Calls Goalkeeper Critics 'Not Genuine Fans'
The Cottagers Begin Powerfully to Defeat Spurs and Increase Tension on Frank
Tottenham Hotspur supporters who booed goalkeeper Vicario were told afterwards "they cannot be real Tottenham fans" by manager Thomas Frank.
Tottenham let in a pair of goals in the opening initial moments to lose 2-1 to their opponents, marking their 10th Premier League at home loss of 2025.
But the main talking point was Fulham's second goal when Vicario gave away the ball well outside his area.
He ventured out to handle a long ball and carried the ball towards the sideline.
But, instead of kicking it out of play, the Italian spun and tried to clear away, but slipped as the ball skimmed off Harry Wilson and was collected by Josh King.
King laid the ball off to Welsh midfielder Wilson, who curled a shot into the net from the touchline recorded at thirty-six point six yards.
Moments later when the ball went to the keeper again, a number of Tottenham supporters booed him.
The team were jeered off at half-time, with the side 2-0 down, and once more at the final whistle.
A particular of those jeering sessions truly irritated Frank.
"It came to my attention some of our fans reportedly booed the situation and booed following, which, in my opinion is totally unjustifiable," the Danish manager stated regarding the supporters' reaction to his goalkeeper.
"[They] cannot be real Spurs supporters that do that. Alright booing following the game, no problem, but when we are in play, we are backing one another, we are with each other going forward."
Tete had given the visitors a early advantage prior to Wilson's strike – with Mohammed Kudus scoring for Tottenham in an better second-half showing.
Ex- Premier League keeper Hart stated that the next score was "totally avoidable".
"I do appreciate the supporters' frustration," Hart continued. "I know the role the keeper is performing. He's a excellent team player, he's a real figure in the dressing room but ultimately you are going to be judged by your actions.
"The keeper was deeply implicated in what ended up to be the winning score."
'It's Part of Football, I'm a Big Man'
Thomas Frank Defended His Goalkeeper Vicario After the Game
Italy international the keeper is in his 3rd season with Tottenham.
He said after the match that he had to take the feedback.
"That score was a error of mine, I accept responsibility for it," he said.
"The intent was to clear the ball long and I just hit the ball in a bad way. It was an even bigger challenge to climb."
He said receiving jeers "is part of the game".
"I am mature, what can I say?" he added. "We can't be influenced by the circumstances in the crowd. The fans have the entitlement to do what they think.
"It is on us to remain more composed, to concentrate on ourselves. We are missing in composure and calmness to overturn results. This match is a poor loss and it's hard to accept."
'It Shocked Me No One Went Back to the Goal Line'
In spite of Vicario's error, it was far from an simple score for Harry Wilson to convert.
Actually it was the second longest-range Premier League goal of the season – after Tyler Adams' forty-three point three yard strike for Bournemouth against Sunderland, which incidentally also came on Saturday.
The goalscorer said he was "a little bit surprised" that he still had an open goal to target.
10 seconds passed between Vicario exiting of his box and Wilson striking – which was five seconds after the kick.
"It seemed to me like the goalkeeper was out of the box for ages," he remarked.
"It amazed me not one of the defenders went back to the line. When not one of them defended the goal, my interest sparked a bit.
"[Destiny] Udogie fell as well, which allowed me a little additional time. After that it was solely about trying to make the right connection and place it on target. I felt a positive feeling, as soon as it came off my foot, that it was on the right line."
'During in a Poor Run, Everything Appears to Go Against You'
Booing Whilst We Are Still in Play Is Completely Unacceptable - Frank
While Vicario's error dominated coverage, this was an overall bad performance for Spurs to continue their home ground struggles.
The match was their tenth at home loss of 2025 in the Premier League, a joint team record along with nineteen ninety-four and two thousand and three.
They still have home games against the manager's former club the Bees and title holders Liverpool to play prior to the close of the year.
Only one of those wins have come since Frank replaced Ange Postecoglou in the summer.
"When you're down 2-0 following six minutes, there is a huge challenge to overcome," stated the boss.
"During in a bad spell, all aspects appears to go against you too – the opening was a deflected shot, the next is a error from the keeper.
"This result leaves us in a position where we have suffered another game. Each fixture has a unique story, today we lost in the first six minutes.
"We just need to continue striving. The later period was significantly improved and hopefully an aspect we can utilize to learn."
Tottenham have lost 4 straight at home London derbies for the initial time in the top division.
Furthermore they are averaging 9.5 shots and 3.2 shots on target per game in the division – their poorest rates on record in a one campaign (dating back to 2003-04).
Ex- Fulham midfielder Danny Murphy commented that the manager has to ride the storm.
"He's got accept the criticism," Murphy said. "He's taken a prestigious role at a huge team with enormous expectation. There is pressure and duty that accompanies that.
"The performances at their stadium have been poor and they have to improve {quickly|
