Nearly twenty-five thousand households in south-east Queensland found themselves experiencing outages on Monday's dawn after severe thunderstorms impacted the state, producing powerful gusts topping over 100 km/h.
Large Ice Stones and Broad Impact
Residents observed large ice chunks measuring up to seven centimeters in some areas. Meteorological experts announced that multiple regions across Queensland had been impacted by significant hail.

Utility workers were attempting to repair electricity service throughout the impacted areas, with dozens of response units deployed to manage the extensive power failures.
Southern State's Climate Difficulties
Simultaneously, around 1,000 households in Victoria also experienced energy failures after the capital city recorded its wettest day in 18 months.
Emergency response teams received over five hundred emergency reports across the state, mostly for structural issues but also for fallen timber and flooding.

During the peak on Sunday, in excess of 28k energy customers in the state were without power.
Meteorological Predictions
Humid circumstances were forecast to persist along significant areas of eastern Queensland this coming days as a atmospheric system continued to pull in damp air against the coast.
Tuesday was predicted as the heaviest precipitation period, with ongoing severe weather risk predicted across various areas of both regions.
Health Warning
Public health experts alerted that there was an greater possibility of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the countryside regions, especially given the existing atmospheric conditions.
This alert comes after previous incidents where similar conditions led to significant health impacts in the area.
