Tributes Pour In for Rob and Michele Reiner as Autopsy Reports Are Sealed.
Over a fortnight following the shocking loss of esteemed film director Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues persist in remembering the pair.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Remembers His Director
Posting on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, stated he just recently felt able to share openly about his personal sorrow.
"Adequate time has elapsed that I can finally put my grief into words," wrote Elwes, saying that his first meeting with Reiner left him smitten. "As we began sharing more moments together I realized this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor uploaded never-before-seen clips from the movie, commenting that he could not remember "any day without joy".
"The movie is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Things that Rob valued immensely. This is one of the many reasons he was the ideal person to helm it," Elwes expressed.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, saying: "Claiming that they were a formidable pair would be an understatement. My heart still pangs every time I think of you." He concluded with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Fellow Artist
In a distinct piece, legendary director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was very funny and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese wrote.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the lead role.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked beautifully with the cast, and he understood the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese wrote.
Judicial Actions: Autopsy Reports Sealed
In a new development, a Los Angeles superior court judge decided to block the release of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, following a petition from the LAPD.
A judicial mandate placed a restriction on the investigation to restrict the public release of "related notes, documents, files or images" connected to the active case.
The Medical Examiner's office had earlier stated their deaths were the outcome of homicide, with a official listing noting the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
Aftermath and Reactions
In the wake of the killings, public individuals expressed divergent responses.
Former President Donald Trump commented on the matter, making divisive claims that were widely condemned by numerous commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his voice to the those speaking out last week. Conversing on his program, Rogan described the remarks as "shocking" and implied they revealed a concerning lack of empathy.
Rogan concluded by proposing that an aide could have intervened when the choice to weigh in on the death was made.
